Songbird numbers have crashed in only one generation. Farmland birds have halved, some others have fared worse. But this is not all down to farming techniques and the loss of habitat. Much has been done already such as restoring hedgerows and farm environment schemes but numbers of our beautiful birds don’t seem to be getting any better.
SongBird Survival is funding new research to find out more about the problems our songbirds face and hope to find ways to reverse the worrying decline in their numbers. Our research so far has highlighted that it is not simply habitat management but also predation management which is of vital importance. But this is only the tip of the iceberg; there is so much more we need to learn.
SongBird Survival is a national charity with strong representation throughout the country. You can help make a difference by raising funds or maybe becoming a member, all of which help fund research into new ways we can protect and repopulate our skies.
