StreetVet

Conjunction with a social care provider such as a soup kitchen, day centre or hostel. During this time we deliver free preventative and reactive veterinary care, procedures such as simple diagnostic tests, flea and worming treatment, microchipping, education and daily essentials such as food, treats and other pet equipment to the pets of those experiencing homelessness. If an animal needed to be referred into a veterinary practice for surgery, x-rays or further investigative procedures we cover the cost of this treatment, ongoing medication and often transportation costs to and from the vet appointment. StreetVet service users are amongst the most vulnerable in society and commonly have complex physical and psychosocial needs. Most of our clients describe their pets as family, their main source of mental health support, and credit their pet-human bond with giving them a reason to live. Our mission is simple, to protect the human-animal bond, keeping pets and their owners together wherever possible.
