Sussex Nightstop

Sussex Nightstop is a charity serving young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Young people don’t choose homelessness. It can be the safer option than staying at home.

We provide safe, welcoming places to stay through our volunteer host network - people with a spare room to offer and a desire to help. This prevents rough sleeping and the dangers associated with it.

“Nightstop made me feel at home while homeless. It’s a very important service that has a positive impact on those that use it.”

We recruit and train volunteer hosts and while guests recuperate in these safe spaces, our support co-ordinators connect them with local services, including housing advisors, to help them find safe and suitable accommodation. We also operate an on-call service to support both guests and hosts.

Our service is a constant reminder of how powerful collaboration can be. Guests really appreciate the kindness shown to them by our wonderful hosts – it can make all the difference between overcoming temporary challenges or not - and volunteers enjoy the hugely positive impact their generosity has on young lives.

“Nightstop restored my faith in human kindness.”
