"No one should have to die alone.
The Anne Robson Trust exists to improve the experience of people facing the end of life. We support those with a terminal diagnosis, together with their family and friends, and those who care for them. Our aim is to ensure that no one has to face the end of life alone, and more people have access to the emotional support and companionship that they need.
We work alongside NHS hospitals to set up and run teams of volunteers to visit patients at the end of their life. Volunteers talk to patients, hold their hand, sit in silence, read to them, and sometimes even sing together.
“Thanks for being there for my grandpa as he passed away. It means the world to me that he had the comfort of someone by his side.” – Izzy.
We also run a phone support service, giving emotional support and signposting to people with a terminal diagnosis, or who are caring for a family member or friend who is dying.
A hand to hold. A listening ear. The presence of another person.
These simple things become invaluable in the final days and hours of life."
