The UK Sepsis Trust

"The UK Sepsis Trust was founded in 2012 by NHS consultant Dr Ron Daniels.
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition arising when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs, with the immune system going into overdrive.
It can lead to shock, multiple organ failure and sometimes death if not recognised and treated promptly.
The charity aims to end preventable deaths from sepsis, and improve outcomes for survivors, by instigating political change, educating healthcare professionals, raising public awareness and providing support for those affected by this devastating condition.
UKST aims to protect people by enabling the prevention of severe infection and the treatment of sepsis, whilst helping to ensure antibiotics are used responsibly.
With our supporters’ help, since our foundation in 2012 we’ve put sepsis on the national and global agenda: Survival rates from sepsis in the UK increased from 70% in 2012 to 80% in 2019, and public awareness that sepsis is a medical emergency has risen from a baseline of 27% in 2012 to 76% in 2019 (YouGov polls)."
